Members of the Regina Coin Club will be displaying precious artifacts from the World Wars at the upcoming Coin and Stamp Show.
George Manz, president of the club, said members wanted to do something special with military items of interest at the show, which takes place this weekend at the Turvey Centre in Regina.
"We thought that we would put on some displays to commemorate ... and honour the memory of those who served in the Canadian military," Manz said.
Circle the date:
The Regina Coin and Stamp Show
Sat: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Sun: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Admission is $3
In addition to the military memorabilia, the show will also have several hundred thousand of coins, and paper currency, for sale. Those items are from around the world and cover many time periods. There will even be coins from the times of Alexander the Great, Julius Caesar and Mark Antony.
Manz added that it is no exaggeration to note there will be millions of stamps for sale as well.
"The thing I like about coins or militaria, these were things that were used [in some cases] 2,500 years ago. It's a way of me looking at history without just reading a book," Manz said. "You can actually put it in your hand."
