A CN Rail worker is dead following a train accident near Tisdale, Sask.

It happened about 17 kilometres east of the town just after 6:30 p.m. CST Monday, the RCMP said.

The 39-year-old man was injured while cars were being switched close to Crooked River.

He was taken to hospital in Tisdale where he was later pronounced dead.

Police haven't released his name or details about how the accident occurred. 

The Transportation Safety Board said it has sent an investigator to the site.
