Connaught School will close, the Regina Public School Board has decided.

Despite the efforts of community members who want to save Connaught School, the century-old school in Regina is closing.

On Tuesday night, the Regina Public School Board voted to close Connaught at the end of the year.
It says it's not structurally sound anymore.

Students and staff will move to Wascana School until a new one is built in place of Connaught.

The provincial government has set aside some money to allow planning to proceed for the replacement school.

Members of the community had been fighting to save the 102-year-old building.
