Boy, 13, charged with stealing SUV in Saskatoon
Two boys, ages 13 and 11, were caught riding in a stolen vehicle in Saskatoon Monday morning — with the older boy at the wheel.
It happened at around 1 a.m. CST in 800 block of Confederation Dr. on the city's west side, according to the Saskatoon Police Service.
Police said a resident of the Confederation Park area called police after spotting two people checking out parked cars.
While on the phone, he saw them get into a sport utility vehicle and slowly drive away.
Within seconds, a police car arrived and the SUV was pulled over.
Inside were the two boys.
Police said the 13-year-old driver was so small, he could barely reach the pedals or see over the dashboard.
He was charged with theft of a motor vehicle and failing to hold an operator's licence.
The 11-year-old, whom police described as the "accomplice" to the 13-year-old, is too young to be charged and was released to a legal guardian.
The SUV was confirmed stolen shortly after the boys were taken into custody.
