A blast of winter weather is messing with Regina drivers as they try to cope with icy streets and reduced visibility.

Police reported 26 collisions in a span of just 9½ hours Thursday, noting that seven of the crashes resulted in injuries, although no one seriously hurt.

Traffic was also backed up for more than an hour at the Wascana Parkway intersection with the Trans-Canada Highway, due to a collision.

"Roads are extremely icy," police said. "We ask that motorists use extreme caution when driving, and only drive if absolutely necessary."
