For the first time ever, Saskatoon's Delta Bessborough hotel had no guests on Sunday night.
The hotel commonly known as "The Bess" (pronounced Bezz) installed a new emergency generator Sunday afternoon, and that meant the whole building would be without power for several hours.
Managers decided it would be best if the hotel was closed for that time, so for the first time since it opened in 1935, all the guests had to leave and the hotel was completely empty.
That broke a string of 28,236 continuous nights of occupancy.
It's open again this morning at 8 a.m. CST.
