News of a child born to Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge and Prince William was celebrated in Regina by the ringing of bells downtown.

The Regina Bell Ringers used the bells at Knox-Metropolitan church to sound the happy news Monday afternoon.

The group performed the Aberdeen Surprise Royal to announce the royal baby’s arrival.

People in Saskatchewan will be able to sign a book of congratulations, beginning Tuesday.

The first signature in the book will be that of the Lieutenant Governor of Saskatchewan, Vaughn Solomon Schofield.

The book will be at Government House in Regina until the end of August, when it will be sent to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.  People will also be able to sign on-line, at the Lieutenant Governor's website.
