Police in Saskatoon say they have solved the case of a disturbing daytime sexual assault that left residents fearful of being in the neighbourhood.

According to police a 19-year-old woman was sexually assaulted July 28, around 10 a.m. CST in the 400 block of 31st Street West.

On Wednesday, police announced that a 24-year-old man from Prince Albert, Sask., was arrested five days earlier in Edmonton.

They said the suspect was transported to Saskatoon where investigators interviewed him and followed up with a charge of sexual assault with a weapon.

The man, whose name was not released by police, was set to appear in court in Saskatoon Thursday morning.
