Armed man charged after breaking into home
A 19-year-old man is facing several charges after a moving truck was damaged and two employees and a family were threatened with a knife in Saskatoon Saturday evening.
Police were called to the 200 block of Camponi Place after several reports that a man had damaged a moving vehicle in the area at about 7:13 p.m. CST.
After an investigation police said the man had smashed the windows of the moving van, then entered a home armed with a shovel.
He threatened to harm a man and woman, both 41, and their five-year-old daughter as well as two moving company employees inside the residence.
The suspect then fled the scene in an SUV, but showed up a short time later in a car.
This time he was armed with a knife and threatened one of the moving company employees, then fled the scene again.
The suspect was initially with a group of men who fled the scene in the SUV to a nearby business.
Officers questioned the other men and concluded that they were not involved in the incident.
Police tracked down the suspect at a home in the 3800 block of Fairlight Drive. The knife has not been found.
No one was hurt in the incident.
The suspect faces several charges including break and enter, assault with a weapon and mischief under $5,000.
