Bonnie McLachlan has lost the appeal of her conviction on a sexual exploitation charge.

The conviction will stand in the case of a Prince Albert teacher who sexually exploited a 15-year-old boy — but she won't be going to jail.

Last year, Bonnie McLachlan, 53, was handed an 18-month sentence to be served in the community.

She was charged after the victim, a former student, came forward with a complaint as an adult.

McLachlan denied the allegations and launched an appeal of her conviction.

The Crown appealed the sentence, arguing it should have included jail time.

This week, the Saskatchewan Court of Appeal dismissed both appeals. That means McLachlan will serve her sentence but there will be no time behind bars.
