Provincial government, teachers reach tentative agreement

The province says it has reached a tentative four-year agreement with the Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation (STF).

It includes a 7.3 per cent pay increase as well as a $700 payment in the first year.

The agreement will also provide funding for a new teachers' regulatory and disciplinary body in Saskatchewan.

Connie Bailey, the spokesperson for the government’s bargaining committee, said she was hopeful the agreement will be ratified.

The teachers have not voted on the proposed agreement. A vote is expected in the coming weeks.
