A 24-year-old man has been charged with aggravated assault in relation to a vicious group-attack in Regina's Central Park that almost killed a man. There are now four people accused in the case.
Police said the latest person charged was arrested on Friday and is in custody and will remain so at least until his first court appearance, set for Monday.
The attack took place early Wednesday morning in a park at Scarth Street and 14th Avenue, just south of Regina's downtown. A group of people were assaulting a man and scattered when officers arrived on the scene.
The victim, 35, was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries, police said. As of Friday, the man was still in hospital but his condition had improved.
Police did not elaborate on any other elements of the case, other than saying their investigation was continuing. They did not say if the attackers knew the victim.
Already facing aggravated assault charges are two other men, 18 and 19, and a 16-year-old girl.
