There are four hockey players with connections to Saskatchewan among the 37 hopefuls invited to try-out for Canada's World Junior Hockey team.

  • J.C. Lipon is a forward from Regina. He plays in Kamloops.
  • Derrick Pouliot is a defenceman from Weyburn playing with the Portland Winterhawks.
  • Morgan Rielly, while not from Saskatchewan, plays for the Western Hockey League's Moose Jaw Warriors.
  • Mark McNeill, also from away, plays for the Prince Albert Raiders.

The Canadian team will be named Dec. 13 and departs for pre-competition camp in Finland two days later. The 2013 world junior hockey championship opens Dec. 26 and closes Jan. 5 in Ufa, Russia.
