Thirty-two coal mine workers in southeast Saskatchewan have been laid off.

The company, Sherritt International, told employees it's restructuring and 23 hourly workers and nine staff jobs will be cut in Estevan and Bienfait

The mine workers' union said employees were given notice two weeks ago that they will be out of work on April 11.

It's not the only sign of cuts in the Saskatchewan mining industry.

The Mosaic company recently handed out 51 layoff notices to employees at four potash mines.
