Two small children from Meadow Lake, Sask., who were reported missing five days ago have been located, the RCMP says.

They're alive and safe, the RCMP said in a new release Monday evening.

The disappearance of Darrien Martel, 4, and Nayson Herman, 3, was reported to the local detachment on Feb. 25.

The RCMP said investigators from the RCMP's major crimes unit had been called in to assist with the search.

Less than three hours after the RCMP issued a news release asking for the public's help, police reported the children had been found.

The RCMP provided no details about where they had been.

Meadow Lake is a city of 4,700 about 300 kilometres north of Saskatoon.
