A former teacher at a reserve day school near North Battleford has been charged with indecent assaults on eight students in the 1960s.

In a news release issued Wednesday, RCMP from North Battleford said the assaults are alleged to have taken place at the Moosomin First Nation's Day School, which is no longer in operation.

RCMP said the allegations were brought to police in January 2008.

A 69-year-old man, who police have not named, is set to make his first appearance on the charges on Dec. 23 in provincial court in North Battleford.
