19-year-old charged in death of 16-year-old Prince Albert girl
A 19-year-old man has been charged with second degree murder in connection with the death of Krista Kenny, 16, Prince Albert's first homicide of the year.
Cody Halkett was arrested on Friday and appeared before a judge on Monday. Halkett was remanded in custody until his next court appearance, later this month.
Prince Albert police said they were still investigating the matter. The case began as a missing person's report on May 4. Police told CBC News that the Kenny's mother had phoned them to report that her daughter was missing.
On the afternoon of that same day, police said they found the body of the young woman.
