One person is dead following a two-vehicle crash on Highway 16 northwest of North Battleford on Wednesday morning.

Around 5:30 a.m. CST, a car collided with a transport truck near Paynton, which is 58 kilometres northwest of the city.

A male driver from the car was ejected and as a result of his injuries died at the scene, the RCMP said.

The name of the victim hasn't been released.

No other injuries were reported.

RCMP haven't said anything about the apparent cause of the crash. A vehicle accident scene investigator was called in from Prince Albert.

Traffic was being diverted around the crash site later Wednesday morning.
