Regional police in Ottawa will have to wait a few more days before bringing Michael Shott back from British Columbia.

Shott is charged with first-degree murder in the beating death of his girlfriend Michele Chiesa.

Her body was found in the walk-in cooler of the bar she managed. Shott was arrested in Kelowna last week after an elderly couple was tied up and robbed.

Shott has pleaded guilty to the B.C. crime, but the sentencing has been put off until Thursday to allow lawyers to prove whether the home invasion was premeditated.

Regional police will apply to bring Shott back to Ottawa once the B.C. courts have dealt with him.
