The average price for an apartment in Vancouver is $1,237. In Toronto, a renter will pay just over $1,100 for a similar place. But in Quebec, your rent money goes a lot further. The average apartment is available for just $684.  

The CBC's Havard Gould follows some prospective tenants on their journey to secure an attractive apartment, while CBC's Duncan McCue went apartment hunting to see what $1,000 a month will get you.
