The leader of Quebec's Green Party, Claude Sabourin, is hoping to elect the party's first MNA in the Quebec national assembly.
Sabourin is the third person to become leader of the party in a four year period, taking over from Guy Rainville in 2010.
The 50-year-old candidate holds a bachelor of arts in political science from the University of Quebec in Montreal.
He is also an educator and writer before entering politics.
Sabourin will run again for the party in the riding of Notre-Dame-de-Grâce. His three previous unsuccessful bids for a national assembly seat were in the Argenteuil riding.
'The Charest government lost all legitimacy'
According to its website, the Green Party's primary aim is to develop an international, ecologically-minded culture in the province.
In addition, Sabourin has been vocal on the province's controversial Bill 78 introduced to quiet student protests.
"Taking away the right to demonstrate certainly isn't the best way to make students stop. We are about to interfere with rights to hold a public assembly," he said this spring.
"The Charest government lost all legitimacy," he added.
