Riding profile

riding map

Pointe-aux-Trembles covers the northeastern extremity of Montreal Island, and contains the city of Montreal East as well as part of the city of Montreal borough of Rivière-des-Prairies–Pointe-aux-Trembles. The riding was created in 1989 and didn't change in the 2011 boundary realignments.

Political history

The riding has voted in a Parti Québécois MNA since the district was created. It was André Boisclair's riding after he won the PQ leadership in 2005 and needed a seat in the legislature. He gave it up after just 14 months, though, following his party's lacklustre showing in the 2007 election.
