Riding profile

election

Located in the province's southwest corner, near the borders with Ontario and Quebec, Beauharnois contains the municipalities of Beauharnois, Grande-Île, St-Étienne-de-Beauharnois, St-Louis-de-Gonzague, St-Stanislas-de-Kostka, St-Timothée and Salaberry-de-Valleyfield.

The riding was re-created for the 2003 election, and before that its territory comprised part of the ridings of Salaberry–Soulanges and Beauharnois–Huntingdon. In the 2011 redistribution, it was one of the 39 electoral districts that did not change boundaries.

Political history

The Parti Québécois has three-peated in the riding since it was re-formed in 2003. Before that, its predecessor districts were held by a mix of PQ and Liberal candidates.
