Zagat released its P.E.I. restaurant ratings. (Zagat)

One of the most popular restaurant surveys in the world is releasing a look at P.E.I. dining Friday.

Zagat was contracted by the PEI Culinary Alliance to review a selection of Island restaurants last summer.

Six hundred people participated in an online survey, rating 75 establishments on a number of criteria.

Lot 30 tops the best food list, followed by Sirenella Ristorante and The Pearl in North Rustico.

Tim Zagat, who founded his famous restaurant survey with his wife, Nina, in the 1980s, said the use of local ingredients was very important to the people who took the survey. They also want restaurants to advertise the use of local meat and produce.

The booklet will be used by the alliance and Tourism PEI to promote the Island.

Earlier this year, Zagat ranked P.E.I. as one of its eight top off-the-beaten-track locations in the world.
