Wildlife licence plates proving popular
More than $100,000 raised for conservation
P.E.I.'s Wildlife Conservation Fund will be receiving a major increase in funding this year, thanks to Islanders who are bolting special licence plates on to their vehicles.
The province launched the plates, which feature a choice of five pictures of Island wildlife, in September. As of Monday 10,368 of the plates had been sold. There is a $10 charge for the special plates, meaning $103,680 raised for the Wildlife Conservation Fund through the program.
The fund is administered by the Island Nature Trust.
The most popular design is the fox, followed by the blue jay. Other designs include goose, lady slipper and trout.
