Kays Brothers, a wholesale business that operated for 60 years in Charlottetown, is reopening under new ownership.
The business closed in late September when the downtown building that housed the company was sold to the Charlottetown Area Development Corp. and the family felt it was time to move on.
Kim Green, the former CEO of Tourism Charlottetown and the current owner of Island Chemicals, will become the president of Kays Wholesale.
"We were in discussions with Kays at that time and, you know, we certainly respect the family name and the tradition that they've had here on Prince Edward Island," she said.
Green said she wanted to maintain that sense of tradition and has hired John Kays, a long-time employee of the firm.
Kays Wholesale will operate at the former Saturn car dealership on Mount Edward Road starting in early December.
