Weather cancels P.E.I. ferry, forces bridge restrictions

Travellers should brace for potential problems getting on and off Prince Edward Island Saturday.

Travellers should brace for potential problems Saturday getting on and off Prince Edward Island.

The Northumberland Strait ferry that runs between Caribou, N.S., and Wood Islands, P.E.I., is cancelled because of poor weather.

Strong winds are also forcing traffic restrictions on Confederation Bridge. Motorcycles, high-sided vehicles, tractor trailers, RVs, buses and cars towing trailers are all being stopped from crossing.

The weather have already put a wrench in the plans of Island hockey fans, as the game between the Summerside Western Capitals and the Dieppe Commandos has been postponed due to the bridge restrictions.
