Volunteer jailed for stealing from baseball team
A Cornwall, P.E.I. woman will serve 45 days in jail for stealing from the Bluefield High School band program and a little league baseball team.
Forty-year-old Julie Ann Hennessey pleaded guilty Tuesday in Charlottetown provincial court to two counts of theft.
The court heard Hennessey stole more than $3,000 from the Bluefield High School band while she served as volunteer treasurer last year. She was also treasurer of the Cornwall Mosquitoes double-A baseball team, and stole more than $700 from the team.
Hennessey will serve her 45-day jail sentence on weekends.
Judge Nancy Orr also sentenced Hennessey to three-years probation and ordered her to pay the money back.
