UPEI professor fined for tax evasion
UPEI business professor Sean Hennessey has been fined more than $30,000 for tax evasion.
Hennessy was fined after pleading guilty in provincial court in Charlottetown Wednesday. The charge related to work he did as a private contractor to Tourism PEI and the Confederation Centre of the Arts.
Provincial court Judge John Douglas gave Hennessey a year to pay the fine. Hennessey also has to pay the taxes owing, another $30,000.
Hennessey heads the Tourism Research Centre at UPEI, but is currently on leave from his work there.
