Country music star Toby Keith will play Credit Union Place in Summerside in May as part of his Hammer Down Tour.

The show will be May 3, in support of his latest album, Drinks After Work. Keith's 2014 tour starts in Australia in March, and will move on to the U.S. after the Summerside stop.

The announcement was made early Friday morning. Toby Keith was on the Island in 2011 for the Cavendish Beach Music Festival.

Keith blasted into the country music landscape in 1993 with Should've Been A Cowboy, which went to number one on Billboard's country music chart, and was a crossover hit as well, breaking into the Billboard Hot 100.

With 38 million album sales, Keith is among the top selling all-genre artists.

Tickets for the Summerside show go on sale Jan. 24.
