Summer food drive comes at 'very important time'
The Upper Room and other P.E.I. food banks got much-needed help through annual drive
"It came in at a very important time for us. You know, we are coming in to the summer months to get our shelves replenished and this will certainly help us with that," said Mike MacDonald, general manager of the Upper Room food bank.
Other food banks across the province also received donations through the annual Tim Hortons food drive, now in its 21st year.
The numbers of donations were a little down from last year, says MacDonald who thinks Friday's cold, wet weather may have been a factor.
He notes anyone who didn't contribute to the food drive is always welcome to stop by food banks to make donations.
