A winter storm warning for Kings County that was issued early Friday morning by Environment Canada remains in place, but the blowing snow warning for Queens County has been lifted.
Visibility was so bad in in Kings County Friday morning that some plows were pulled off the road, said a dispatcher from the P.E.I. Transportation Department.
The centre of the storm affecting P.E.I. is sitting just east of Cape Breton, N.S. (Environment Canada)Plow drivers there estimated as much as 15 centimetres of snow had fallen by 6 a.m., although they said it was hard to judge because of the drifting.
Conditions are not as bad in Prince County, although roads are snow-covered and there is some drifting
Strong northwest winds gusting up to 90 km/hr could cause ice to push in along northern shorelines.
High winds may also result in restrictions on the Confederation Bridge.
The blowing snow is expected to end Friday afternoon with a further two to five centimetres expected, except Kings County, is forecast to receive 10 centimetres.
