The P.E.I. economy got back onto a trend of job creation in February according to the latest Labour Force Survey from Statistics Canada.
The unemployment rate fell from 11.8 to 11.6 per cent, despite an increase in the number of people looking for work, thanks to 1,300 new jobs in the economy.
The number of jobs on the Island was relatively flat over the first nine months of 2012, but started to grow in September. Growth has been mostly steady since then, with a small drop registered in January. Since September the economy has created 3,100 jobs.
Much of the job growth has been focused in the retail, food services and accommodations industries.
