A meeting Wednesday night to present a draft plan for Charlottetown's waterfront heard from some residents who wonder if the city is moving too quickly.

This plan will guide the next 20 years of development along Charlottetown's waterfront. Many at Wednesday's meeting were unsure if the city's plan is the right one with some saying more research is needed.

"A little bit of a pull back and do a little more of a study," suggested longtime city history buff Catherine Hennessey.

The plan calls for a bit more of everything: more waterfront condos, better walking trails and more businesses on the boardwork.

Coun. Rob Lantz said during the whole process the city and planners have put residents' interests first.

"We're hoping that it's going to result in high quality, better quality developments and better public space on the waterfront," said Lantz.

Some at the meeting felt the plan gives developers too much power to build where they like. Lantz said the whole point of the meeting was to get feedback so adjustments could be made.

"All of the proposed amendments are presented here tonight. The public has a chance to propose additions deletions or changes to what we're proposing here," he said.

Lantz said council will discuss the feedback from the meeting and that could result in some changes.
