A couple of animals from P.E.I.'s Buffalo Land Provincial Park got loose Thursday, as part of what may have been a Halloween prank.
The incident happened around mid-day, and the animals were loose for less than 45 minutes. RCMP Sgt. Andrew Blackadar said the buffalo escaped because the fence was damaged in a deliberate act of vandalism.
"The caretaker of the buffalo ranch located the buffalo and managed to get them back into the fenced area with the assistance of a couple of members of the RCMP," said Blackadar.
"We're trying to determine why the fence was cut and of course who actually vandalized the fence - it may have been part of the damage that occurred during Halloween."
Because the incident was reported quickly there was no danger to the public, he said.
