Charlottetown Police have now been able to interview the owner of a Lebanese restaurant that was gutted by fire last month.

Police say the Byblos owner Charbel Jreij is out of hospital now and officers had a chance to speak with him late last week. Jreij was the only person in the restaurant when the fire broke out the night of Oct. 1. He had to be rescued from the building, and was later taken to hospital in Halifax suffering from smoke inhalation.

Jreij was unconscious for several days after the fire.

Police aren't giving any details about what was said during the interview.

"We still have some interviews to conduct," said Deputy Police Chief Gary McGuigan.

"We are still waiting for some exhibits that were sent to the lab. So when all that is done, we will look then and see where we are in the investigation."

McGuigan isn't sure how much longer the investigation will take.
