This year's Remembrance Day ceremony in Summerside P.E.I. is going to be held inside, regardless of the weather.

The Summerside Legion recently held a meeting on the ceremony. About 20 veterans attended and they voted unanimously to have the ceremony inside Credit Union Place.

"There were some people that had some reservations about it," said branch president LeRoy Gamble.

"They were non-veterans who thought, you know, the veterans fought at that age, in their 20s and were out in the cold, and we should be able to do the same thing. Well, I guess people younger should be able to do that, but we must remember that the veteran themselves are 80, 90, 95 years of age."

George Olscamp, a 93 year old World War Two vet in Summerside, thinks holding the ceremony inside will attract more people.

"Especially if it's a bit of an inclement weather, it'd be nice to think that you can just drive down to the Credit Union Centre and [be] under a warm atmosphere and good seating capacity and everything else," said Olscamp.

Last year the ceremony in Summerside was moved indoors at the last minute because of bad weather, and so many people came that some had to be turned away.
