Drunk driving charges stayed in fatal rollover

Charges have been stayed against a P.E.I. man accused of impaired driving causing death and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death.
Landon Ramsay, 28 of Brockton, was charged after a single-vehicle rollover in July, 2010 killed James Getson of Kildare Capes. Both men were traveling in the same vehicle. The trial was slated to begin Monday.
Prosecutors shelved the case because they were unable to determine who was driving.
RCMP believed Ramsey was driving on Route 12 in Kildare when the car left the road and rolled over. Both of the occupants were ejected from the vehicle.
Getson died later at the Prince County Hospital. Ramsay was airlifted to hospital in Halifax, but was released.
RCMP said the investigation was complicated. With no eye witnesses, police had to rely on forensic evidence. The charges were not laid until February of this year.
Ultimately, prosecutors decided the forensic evidence did not establish who was driving the car.
