The P.E.I. Fishermen's Association is moving forward with a strategy to boost lobster prices for next year.

Prices have been low for years, and were so bad for Island fishermen this fall some tied up their boats before the end of the season.

"We will not only be polling and sending a questionnaire to our members but also we are going to be polling 300 islanders to get feedback on their perceptions of the industry," said association executive director Ian MacPherson.

"In Prince County, we will be having meetings with their fishers just to review the last season and look for ideas. The third thing is there is … a LFA 25 advisory group which will consist of processors, harvesters, the provincial government and the fishing organizations."

MacPherson hopes the acting federal fisheries minister, Island MP Gail Shea, will also be able to help the process.
