I started emailing local publishers to see if anyone was in the market to hire a copy editor. Only one has gotten back to me so far, and they said they weren’t hiring, although they would keep my CV on file.
If no one on the Island has an opening, I’ll contact publishers in other provinces to see if they’re hiring.
I’m not going to get discouraged if I get turned down, because I’m sure the publishing industry is feeling the effects of the recent economic downturn just like other industries are.
