The P.E.I. government announced $5 million in support on Wednesday for the 2014 celebrations.
The money in the P.E.I. 2014 Fund will go to community groups and organizations that plan to host events marking the 150th anniversary of the Charlottetown Conference.
The 2014 celebrations commemorate the 1864 meeting that set the groundwork for Canadian Confederation.
Projects will be cost-shared and the money must be used during the celebration year.
"This fund will support programming as well as commemorations and celebrations through the work of community-based organizations," said Premier Robert Ghiz during Wednesday's announcement.
Money is available to all residents who partner with a non-profit group.
There are three levels of funding available.
Applications for large grants must be in by Jan. 11, mid-size grant applications by Feb. 15 and small grants by March 15.
Information sessions will be held across Island during October.
