A 24-year-old Charlottetown man was sentenced Friday to eight years in prison for two violent home invasions this past spring.
Mark William Kneebone was charged with break and enter, assault with a weapon and robbery. He pleaded guilty to those charges. Kneebone was sentenced in a Charlottetown court by Chief Provincial Court Judge John Douglas.
The court heard Kneebone forced his way into the apartment of an 83-year old woman in May. He lunged at her with a knife and when she put her hands up to protect herself, he slashed her hand. The court heard she was knocked to the floor and Kneebone stole her purse with $70 in it.
Kneebone also pleaded guilty to another assault and home invasion in April.
A 59-year-old woman said two men forced their way into her home, grabbed her from behind and demanded she hand over her pills.
They stole prescription drugs, a laptop and jewellery after threatening to kill her.
The judge said Kneebone's case was one of the worst he'd seen in his fifteen years on the bench.
Cameron Geoffrey Dobson, 20, of Clyde River also faces charges in the April incident. He will appear in court later this month.
Dobson remains in custody.
