Sales at the new P.E.I. Liquor Control agency store in Cavendish have been positive, according to the store owner.
It's been a little over a month since Brian Ellis began selling liquor at his store, The Cavendish Tourist Mart.
Ellis says sales are about what he expected, and response from customers has been positive.
“There seems to be a fair amount of traffic. Most of the comments I've heard, it has been a great convenience. Everything is fine,” he said.
Ellis won the bid to operate one of five new liquor agency stores across P.E.I.
There has been a slight decrease in sales at the nearby provincially-run liquor store in North Rustico, although Liquor Control officials didn't have an exact number.
However, they did say, liquor sales between the Cavendish and North Rustico sites are up 16 per cent compared to the same period last year when there was just the one location.
