Some residents in north Summerside are angry about the noise of trucks coming along their residential street in the middle of the night.
The trucks are bringing in goods from barges along West Drive.
Last Wednesday, the noise drove one resident to start a petition to get the trucks to take a different route. Dan Arsenault lives at the corner of Briggs and West Drive in the city.
"I've been here for seven years and this is every day, this is every day of the week," said Arsenault.
"The worst we've seen it was Wednesday night. You got 400,000-pound, tri-axle trucks twenty feet from your bedroom, your bed's going to do some dancing."
Coun. Bruce MacDougall said he is working on a compromise.
"The truckers and the contractors have to make a living, but we've also got to realize that people work and they've got to get their sleep," said MacDougall.
"There's got to be a happy medium here somewheres, and so I just work with the residents to see if we can come up with a solution that's going to be suitable to everyone."
MacDougall said he will present the petition to city council at Monday's meeting.
