The unemployment rate on P.E.I. fell in July to its lowest level in more than two years on the strength of a jump in part-time job numbers.

The province posted a seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate of 10.2 per cent in July, down from 11.3 per cent in June.

Both full-time jobs and the number of people in the workforce were unchanged. Part-time jobs were the difference maker, rising from 12,000 to 12,800.

The last time the unemployment rate was this low was in April 2010, when it came in at 9.3 per cent.
