Veteran Green Party candidate Peter Bevan-Baker has announced he will seek to become the next leader of the Green Party on P.E.I.
Peter Bevan-Baker wants to be leader of the P.E.I. Green Party. (Green Party)Bevan-Baker, who lives near the central P.E.I. community of Hampton, has been with the Greens for more than 20 years. He has run for the Greens in both federal and provincial elections.
In making his announcement, Bevan-Baker said he's dismayed to see the Ghiz government lurch from one crisis to the next, ignoring the needs of Islanders.
Founding leader Sharon Labchuk announced last month she would be stepping down. Bevan-Baker, a dentist who is originally from Scotland, was one of the first names to come up as a replacement.
He said at the time he was seriously considering it, but needed some time to think it over.
A leadership convention is planned for the fall.
