P.E.I. Premier Robert Ghiz and Saskatchewan Premier Brad Wall will continue as co-chairs of the Health Care Innovation Working Group after a unanimous endorsement from other Canadian premiers.

The two have been leading the group since January, looking for ways the provinces can co-ordinate and share best practices in health care delivery.

"This has been a very productive process and we achieved a great deal in a very short period of time. In January, we were asked to do this work and have results by summer. I am very pleased that Premier Wall and I kept to that commitment and can continue to work together on a file that is so important to Canadians," Ghiz said.

He went on to say that it's important for provinces to work together.

"We know that a great deal of valuable work is being done in every province and territory of Canada when it comes to health care. That means a collaborative approach between provinces, where best practices and solutions are shared, is incredibly valuable for every jurisdiction," he said.

The premiers provided an update on their work at the Council of the Federation meeting last week in Halifax.

They say they'll deliver another progress report sometime before next year's meeting of the council in Ontario.
