A 15-year old boy in eastern P.E.I. faces fines after being sent to hospital after crashing his dirt bike.
Kings County RCMP say the teen was riding with a group of boys near Murray River. He was speeding, and attempted to do some tricks on his Honda CRF dirt bike. He was also riding on the highway, they said, which is illegal.
"The young boy was wearing protective gear - helmet, a lot of protective gear - which prevented really serious injuries in this case," said RCMP Staff Sgt. Dave Thibeau.
"It continues to be a concern for us that four wheelers and off road vehicles are on the road. We do get numerous complaints, and we try to respond to those calls. It is difficult though. By the time we get there usually the vehicle's gone."
Thibeau said no criminal charges will be laid, but the boy could be fined up to $300 for riding his dirt bike illegally on the highway.
