One of four new stained glass windows installed at Immaculate Conception Church in Brae, western P.E.I. (CBC)A small church in western P.E.I. may face an uncertain future, but that hasn't stopped parishioners from decorating it with four brand new, Island-made stained glass windows.
Immaculate Conception Church in Brae, south of O'Leary, faces a dwindling congregation and a real possibility of having to shut down before long. Despite that threat, four families decided to sponsor the new glass around the altar.
"They are in memory of parishioners, long time parishioners who have passed away, and they're placed there by their families," said Pastor Danny Wilson.
"It's their sacrifices and their prayers that put the church here, and this is another way of them saying it's made more beautiful and more complete in their eyes."
Stanley Bridge artisan Daniel Cyr designed and created the four stain-glassed windows.
If the church does shut down, Wilson said, the windows will likely be moved to another Catholic Church in the area.
