Cindy Burton is the former coach of the 2009 Canada Games rowing team. (CBC)A woman found guilty of defrauding P.E.I.'s Canada Games rowing team has lost her appeal.
Cindy Burton, who had coached the team, was found guilty of fraud and theft in a P.E.I. Supreme Court in October.
In January, Supreme Court Justice Ben Taylor found Cindy Burton guilty of taking at least $8,000 from the team's account for her own use.
Burton appealed, but P.E.I.'s Court of Appeal has ruled the convictions were reasonable.
Burton will now serve her four month jail sentence, and 18 months probation.
She also has to pay back $4,000 of the money she took.
In appeal papers filed with the court, Burton said the judge failed to protect her rights to a fair trial by neglecting to make sure she'd explored all her options when she chose to represent herself.
